Water rarely enters directly above the stain. It can travel along roofing components before it becomes visible inside the house.

Stage 01
Roof inspection
The condition of the roof and the extent of visible damage can be assessed before any scope is agreed.
Stage 02
Locate the source
Identifying the point where water is entering, which is not always where it appears inside.
Stage 03
Remove damaged materials
Where required, failed or water-damaged components are removed so new material meets sound material.
Stage 04
Complete the repair
The affected area is addressed within the agreed scope so the roof sheds water as intended.
Stage 05
Check adjacent areas
The surrounding roof can be checked for the same type of failure, so a repair does not simply move the problem.
Stage 06
Final review
The completed work can be reviewed against what was identified at the start.
Repair or replace
Not every roof needs to be replaced
When damage is localised and the rest of the roof is still serviceable, a repair may be the right answer. When it is not, replacement is. Which applies depends on where the failure is and the condition of the surrounding roofing system.

What a roof repair involves
There is no single price for a roof repair. The scope depends on what is causing the problem and which parts of the roof are affected.
- Where water is entering, and how far it has travelled
- Which components are involved — shingles, flashing, a valley, a vent or a penetration
- How large the affected area is
- Whether the decking or underlayment beneath has been damaged
- Access to the section of roof that needs work

Roof repair questions
Can a leaking roof be repaired without replacing the whole roof?
A leaking roof may be repairable without replacing the entire roof. It depends on where the failure is, how extensive the damage is and the condition of the surrounding roofing system.
How do you find where a roof leak is coming from?
By working back from the stain rather than starting at it. Water can enter at one point and travel along the underlayment, a rafter or the decking before it appears inside. Shingles, flashing, valleys, roof vents and pipe penetrations are the components where water most commonly enters.
Can missing shingles be repaired?
Missing shingles can sometimes be repaired individually if the surrounding roofing system remains serviceable. Whether that applies depends on the condition of the area around them and on whether anything underneath was damaged while the roof was exposed.
What should I do if my roof starts leaking?
Move or cover anything below the leak and contain the water if you safely can. Note where it is appearing and when. Don't go up on a wet roof. Then get in touch so the source can be identified.
